Type species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Crodelia is Crodelia expansa (Philippi) Kylin.
Status of name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Mesophyllum expansum (Philippi) Cabioch & M.L.Mendoza

Type information
Type locality: Sicily (Athanasiadis & Neto 2010: 334). Lectotype: L 943.7-84 (Woelkerling & al. 2005: 200). Notes: According to INA and Cabioch & Mendoza (2003), the type locality is not given. Woelkerling (1983: 307, fig. 4) designates the original collection of L expansum, consisting of two pieces of thallus, as the lectotype. Athanasiadis & Neto select the larger specimen.
