Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Triceratium is Triceratium favus Ehrenberg.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Pseudictyota moreirae (L.F.Fernandes & R.M.Souza-Mosimann) P.A.Sims & D.M.Williams.

General Environment
This is a marine species.
Description
Valves tripolar; corners with
elevations, each one bearing one rimoportula and
one ocellus. Valvar surface convex, with circular
to polygonal psudoloculli surrounding a group of
6-9 domed cribral areolae. Areolae radially disposed
on the valvar surface. External tube of rimoportula
reinforced by silica ribs, and with smooth
edges. Internal labiate fissure bordered by a thickened
elliptical rim. Septum in a transverse position
in relation to the valvocopula, with the base reinforced
by ribs, and the edge folded to the inner
side of the valve. Length of size 47-61 µm; pervalvar
axis 27-31 µm.
