Solitary trichomes, in cluster or fine mats, bluegreen or dark bluegreen (on agar). Single trichomes have facultatively delicate, but firm, colorless, unlamellated sheaths, open at the end. Trichomes straight or slightly curved, not or only slightly constricted at cross walls, (3.1)3.6-5.4 µm wide. Cells quadratic or longer, rarely also shorter than wide, (2.6)3.4-7.2(11) µm long, pale bluegreen, with homogeneous, finely granular content, usually with scattered large granules which are sometimes constricted near cross walls; crosswalls sometimes indistinct. Terminal cells rounded at the ends. Thylakoids ± parietal, fasciculated.
