This is the type species (holotype) of the genus Dilsea.
Status of name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Dilsea carnosa (Schmidel) Kuntze
No synonyms are currently included in AlgaeBase.
As Fucus edulis Stackhouse (1801: 57) is an illegitimate name, being a later homonym of Fucus edulis S.G. Gmelin (1768: 113), the name D. edulis Stackhouse (1809: 71) should eb treated as a new name.
