Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Chrysymenia is Chrysymenia ventricosa (J.V.Lamouroux) J.Agardh.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Leptosomia rosea (Harvey) Womersley.

Nomenclatural note
Silva et al. (1996: 368) note that in Harvey's amplified description of Halymenia kallymenioides in 1859, he included a mixture of two species, as noted by J. Agardh (1876), who described a second species Chrysymenia cliftonii. H. cliftonii Harvey 1859 is a substitute name for H. kallymenioides (Cryptonemia kallymenioides (Harvey) Kraft. - (11 June 2009) - G.M. Guiry
