Type locality: Kieler Bucht, Baltic Sea (Silva & al. 1996: 725). Lectotype: Original illustration (Reinke, 1889, pl. 25: fig. 1): (Brodie & al. 2007: 124). Notes: Lectotype selected by Burrows (1991: 122). Epitype (designated by Nielsen et al., 2013: 52): C: CAT 2455 (dried material of isolate RN020273). On Polysiphonia (INA).
