This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Osmundea oederi (Gunnerus) G.Furnari

For the distinctions between this entity and Osmundea truncata see Nam, Maggs, McIvor & Stanhope (2000).
Specimens previously identified as Laurencia platycephala largely belong here (Nam et al., 2000).
According to Nam, Maggs, McIvor & Stanhope (2000), the entity currently called Osmundea ramosissima occurs in Atlantic France, Britain, Ireland, Helgoland and Norway; Mediterranean records of this species, together with most Mediterranean records of Osmundea pinnatifida (= Laurencia pinnatifida) should be referred to Osmundea truncata.
This is a marine species.
