The type species (lectotype) of the genus Lithophyllum is Lithophyllum incrustans Philippi.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Chamberlainium tumidum (Foslie) Caragnano, Foetisch, Maneveldt & Payri.

Type locality: Monterey, Monterey County, California; (van der Merwe & al. 2015: 480) Notes: Lectotype: TRH (A3-138), unnumbered, May 1885, W.G Farlow; isolectotype: UC 341301 (van der Merwe et al. 2015: 480). See Lithophyllum farlowii Foslie.

Adjective A (Latin), swollen (Brown 1946).
