This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Titanoderma dispar (Foslie) Woelkerling, Y.M.Chamberlain & P.C.Silva.

Type locality: west coast of Whidbey Island, Washington State, USA; (Woelkerling & al. 2005: 161) Lectotype: Setchell & N.L.Gardner Algae of Puget Sound number 658; 28.vii.1901; cast ashore on Ahnfeltia concinna; TRH; A18-1186 (Woelkerling & al. 2005: 161)
