Type locality: Prov. Tosa [now incorporated in Kochi Prefecture on Shikoku, Japan]. (Okamura 1929: pl. CCLVIII [258]). Holotype: SAP 84069 (Gurgel & al. 2018: 11). Notes: Gurgel et al. (2018) list the date of collection of the holotype as 8 Aug. 1933, which is after the date of publication.

Adjective (Latin), dotted, marked with dots, spots, minute glands, etc. (Stearn 1973).
