This is a marine species.
Type locality: Extreme south tip of Isla Guadalupe, Baja California, Mexico (Dawson 1962: 40). Holotype: 18 December 1949; endophytic in Codium fragile, intertidal. Herb. A. Hancock Foundation E.Y. Dawson 8318 (Dawson 1962: 40). Notes: Dawson (1962: 40) notes that there is an isotype slide located in Herb. Beaudette Foundation.
