The type species (holotype) of the genus Neosiphonia is Neosiphonia flavimarina M.-S.Kim & I.K.Lee.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Melanothamnus concinnus (Hollenberg) Díaz-Tapia & Maggs.
