Status of name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Gayliella taylorii (E.Y.Dawson) T.O.Cho & S.M.Boo

Type information
Type locality: Cabeza Ballena, Baja California Sur, Mexico (Silva & al. 1996: 397). Type: E.Y. Dawson 3393; 9 November 1946; AHFH in UC 48797 (Dawson 1962: 66).

No synonyms are currently included in AlgaeBase.

Taxonomic notes
According to South & Skelton (Micronesica 33: 45-98, 2000) the type specimen of C. taylorii in BISH is very different from the type of C. flaccidum, and the syonymy proposed by Millar (1990) is thus unwarranted.

General environment
No habitat entry has yet been made for this entity.
