The type species (holotype) of the genus Clathromonas is Clathromonas butcheri (Pennick & Clarke) Scoble & Cavalier-Smith.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Lepidochromonas tongiae (Scoble & Cavalier-Smith) Kapustin & Guiry.
