Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Neosiphonia is Neosiphonia flavimarina M.-S.Kim & I.K.Lee.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Melanothamnus thailandicus (N.Muangmai & C.Kaewsuralikhit) Díaz-Tapia & Maggs.
Type Information
Holotype locality: Sri Racha Harbor, Chon Buri, eastern part of Thailand ( 13°11'4.21"N, 100°55'37.88"E); (Muangmai et al. 2014: 461) Holotype (tetrasporophytic plant): March 11, 2011; epiphytic on Gracilaria fisheri; Kasetsart Univ. Mus. of Fisheries, Fac. of Fisheries, Kasetsart Univ.; KUMF-SRC 03-011-1 (Muangmai et al. 2014: 461, fig. 1) Notes: Isotypes: KUMF-SRC 03-011-02 and KUMF-SRC 03-011-03 (Kasetsart Univ. Mus. of Fisheries).
