This is the type species (holotype) of the genus Abbotia.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Neoabbottiella araneosa (Perestenko) S.C.Lindstrom
Type locality: Cape Skalnyi, Pamamushir Island, Kurile Islands (Perestenko 1975: 1686). Holotype: V.I. Lukin; 20 m deep. LE (Perestenko 1975: 1686).

Adjective A (Latin), cobwebby (Lobban & al. 2021).
