The type species (lectotype) of the genus Acrochaetium is Acrochaetium secundatum (Lyngbye) Nägeli.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Acrochaetium savianum (Meneghini) Nägeli.

Type locality: Grassy and Pine Islands, Woods Hole, Massachusetts; (Jao 1936: 243) Type: 7 August 1934; Abundant and mostly grow at the fork of the pinnules of the host plants, Dasya pedicellata C. ag., rarely on other parts; MICH; (Jao 1936: 243) Notes: Type in C.-C.
