Taxonomic notes
"Pterothamnion macropterum (Meneghini ex Kützing) Nägeli [taxon inquirendum]. This new combination, based on Callithamnion macropterum [taxon inquirendum, see the note to the genus Callithamnion at the corresponding entry] was proposed by Nägeli (1862: 376) when he recorded this species from the Adriatic Sea. This species was reported by Athanasiadis (2016: 856) among incertae sedis of Pterothamnieae." (Cormaci & al. 2023: 281). - (16 November 2023) - M.D. Guiry
