Nomenclatural note
[Better known both forms of fruit could perhaps belong to another genus, being very distinct for its outer appearance. The species was collected by Sandri in the vicinity of Zara.] It is debatable whether or not this is sufficient description to validate the name. - (16 November 2017) - M.D. Guiry

Taxon inquirendum (Furnari, person. comm.). May represent Polysiphonia flexella (C.Agardh) J.Agardh (see De Toni, 1903: 916). - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
