Type information
Type locality: Early Pleistocene sediments from Daugavpilsky region of Latvia, borehole no. 570 (Zhidini) (Flower et al. 1998: 54). Type: depth 134 m. Inst of Geochemistry and Geophysics, Minsk, Belarus slide no. 202A (Flower et al. 1998: 54, figs 33, 34). Notes: According to Flower et al. (1998: 54), Khursevich (1990) provides SEM photographs of specimens from the type material.

Origin of species name
Adjective (Latin), ribbed, having one or more primary veins or ridges (Stearn 1973).
