The type species (lectotype) of the genus Stenocladia is Stenocladia conferta (Harvey) J.Agardh.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Nizymenia conferta (Harvey) Chiovitti, G.W.Saunders & Kraft.
