Type locality: Vostok Bay (42°53'16"N, 132°43'41"E) of the Sea of Japan, Russia (Selina & Morozova 2016 '2017': 2). Holotype: 24 January 2012; sublittoral sand. Mus. of A.V. Zhirmunsky Inst. of Mar. Biol., Vladivostok SEM stub MIMB 33135 (Selina & Morozova 2016 '2017': 2, fig 14). Notes: also figs 16, 17.
Origin of species name
Adjective (Latin), oval, elliptical, i.e., broadest at the middle, the sides curved and length:breadth generally 2:1 (Stearn 1985).
