Nomenclatural notes
Illegitimate: superfluous. G. Furnari (pers. comm.) writes: "Montagne (1846: 43) validly published the binomial Dudresnaya boryana by providing an indirect reference (Art 38.14) to the validly published "Cladostephus dubius de la Flore de Morée" (i.e., Bory 1832: 331). The name should be cited as Dudresnaya boryana Montagne, not Dudresnaya boryana Montagne ex J. Agardh. However, because Dudresnaya boryana Montagne (1846) and Cladostephus dubius Bory (1832) are based on same type, the Montagne name was nomenclaturally superfluous when published (Art 52 of ICN), and therefore illegitimate because it's an unwarranted change of epithet." Montagne (1846: 43) wrote: "Oas. J'ai soumis à l'analyse microscopique le Cladostephus dubius de la Flore de Morée, cl j'y ai reconnu les caractères assignés au genre Dudresnaya. Ce sera donc pour moi dorénavant le Dudresnaya Boryana." - (31 Mar 2017) - M.D. Guiry
