Nomenclatural notes
Authority: Lemoine in Hamel & Lemoine 1953: 55 (Chamberlain 1991: 222; INA); P.& H. Crouan ex Lemoine in Hamel & Lemoine 1953: 55 (Irvine & Chamberlain 1994: 220). According to Chamberlain (1991: 222), the name L. [Lithothamnion] melobesioides was used as a herbarium name by the Crouan brothers but was never effectively published by them; Lemoine (in Hamel & Lemoine, 1953: 55) was therefore incorrect in assuming publication when she published the recombined epithet L. [Lithophyllum] melobesioides (Crouan) Lemoine; L. melobesioides Lemoine in Hamel & Lemoine (1953) must be treated as a new name. - (9 Jan 2013) - Wendy Guiry
