This is the type species (holotype) of the genus Anadyomene.
Status of name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Anadyomene stellata (Wulfen) C.Agardh
Type locality: "in Corsicae mare" later (Lamouroux, 1816: 366) stated to be "Dans la Mousse de Corse des pharmaciens" (Alsidium helminthochorton) (Silva & al. 1996: 755).
Origin of species name
Adjective (Latin), flabellate, fan-shaped (Stearn 1985).
