Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Solieria is Solieria chordalis (C.Agardh) J.Agardh.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Solieria robusta (Greville) Kylin.

Syntype localities: Fremantle and King George Sound, Western Australia; (Silva & al. 1996: 338)

Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), south, southern (Stearn 1983).
