Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Branchioglossum is Branchioglossum woodii (J.Agardh) Kylin.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Branchioglossum bipinnatifidum (Montagne) M.J.Wynne.

Eponomy
