Nomenclatural note
H. Nozaki (pers, comm.) "The only reference to UTEX 2184 is Starr & Zeikus (1993). In this reference,[there is] no description of locality/origin of UTEX 2184. I have no personal information of this strain from Dr. Richard Starr. Thus, the type locality of Volvox zeikusii is unknown. UTEX 2184 has been deceased in UTEX. Information of deceased strains should be available via web. UTEX 2184 is now maintained in NIES as NIES-731." - (12 July 2019) - M.D. Guiry
