Type locality: "South Africa, Grootderm, Karoo Namib, Succulent Karoo, semi-desert"; (Samolov & al. 2018: 249) Notes: Holotype: The authentic strain Biota 14614.18.18 (BCCO 30_2910) is permanently cryopreserved in metabolically inactive state in the Culture collection of soil algae and cyanobacteria at the Institute of Soil Biology, ?eské Bud?jovice, Czech Republic.
