The type species (holotype) of the genus Gelidium is Gelidium corneum (Hudson) J.V.Lamouroux.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Yonagunia zollingeri (Sonder) G.H.Boo, J.K.Park, G.S.Gerung & S.M.Boo.
