Taxonomic note
"The species resembles two similar taxa: Liburna glacialis and Hemiolia trepidum, but it is larger than both of them. The study by Lax et al. (2019) suggests that they differ only in their size (12.4 µm for H. trepidum, 25.4 µm for L. glacialis) and the number of pellicular strips (6-7 for H. trepidum, 12-15 for L. glacialis). No pellicular stripes were not observed, therefore we are unable to identify the species unambiguously." (Kubín & al. 2024: 19). - (17 July 2024) - M.D. Guiry
