This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Rama falklandica (Hooker f. & Harvey) Boedeker, M.J. Wynne & Zuccarello.

Lectotype locality: Hermite Island, Cape Horn, Chile; (Silva & al. 1996: 782) Notes: Silva et al. recommend consulting van den Hoek & Womersley (1984: 193) for further information regarding the lectotype locality of this species.
