This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Canistrocarpus cervicornis f. pseudohamatus (Cribb) M.J.Wynne
Type locality: Caloundra, Queensland, Australia (Silva & al. 1996: 588). Type: BRI? (De Clerck 2003: 175).

According to Silva et al., (1996) this species apparently lies within the circumscription of Dictyota cervicornis.
This is a marine species.
De Clerck (2003) notes that this is a growth form of D. pardalis characterised by recurved branchlets.
