The type species (lectotype) of the genus Peyssonnelia is Peyssonnelia squamaria (S.G.Gmelin) Decaisne ex J.Agardh.
Status of name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Ramicrusta calcea (Heydrich) K.R.Dixon

This is a marine species.
Type locality: Tami Island, Deutsch Neu-Guinea (Silva & al. 1996: 209). Holotype: LD (Dixon & Saunders 2013: 103). Notes: Dawson (1953: 108): holotype destroyed in Berlin in 1945, Dixon & Saunders (2013: 103) discovered a fragment of the holotype in herb. Weber-van Bosse (L).
