Type locality: Barker Rocks, Yorke Pen., South Australia (Womersley & Johansen 1996: 303). Holotype: Womersley; 17 October 1989; On Posidonia sinuosa drift. AD A59883 (Womersley & Johansen 1996: 303). Notes: Womersley (1996:303) notes that the type specimen was recorded growing on drift Posidonia sinuosa.

Adjective (Latin), very small, minute (Stearn 1973).
