Unspecified note
Leliaert & Coppejans (2006: 673) cite Pseudostruvea robusta (Setchell & Gardner) Egerod (1975: 47) and Struveopsis robusta (Setchell & Gardner) Rhyne & H. Robinson (1968: 470) as nomenclatural synonyms. They note that the holotype of C. robusta does not correspond with its original description and illustration. The original illustration shows a typical Struveopsis-type branching; the holotype structure is in agreement with Valoniopsis pachynema (G. Mertens) Borgesen. In their opinion, most records of C. robusta (Taylor 1945: 51; etc) are to be regarded as misapplied names for Willeella mexicana Dawson. Silva (Index Nominum Algarum) considers the latter as invalid: provisional name. - (14 December 2006) - G.M. Guiry
