This is a marine species.
Type locality: Helgoland, Germany (Woelkerling et al. 2005: 515). Lectotype: P. Kuckuck; 23.i.1893; no habitat data on type. TRH C24-3726 (Woelkerling et al. 2005: 515). Notes: epilithic on rocks; female and tetrasporophyte (Jeong et al., 2019: 328).
