Adjective (Latin), south, southern (Stearn 1973).
General Environment
This is a marine species.
Habitat
Known from 4-25 m deep, occurring on rock usually shaded by overhangs in areas of fairly strong water movement (Kraft 1977: 235). Usually a deep water alga (10-38 m deep) occurring in shaded areas in shallower water (Kraft & Womersley 1994: 328).
