Nomenclatural note
"This species was described by Zanardini (1847: 221) from the Lagoon of Venice (Italy). The name is illegitimate being a later homonym of C. repens (Dillwyn) C. Agardh (see Agardh, 1817: 63).Ignored by both Hauck (1882) and Ardissone (1883), it was quoted by da De Toni (1903: 1446) who referred it to as C. rubrum. Afterwards, it was no more cited."
