The type species (holotype) of the genus Pringsheimiella is Pringsheimiella scutata (Reinke) Marchewianka.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Ulvella mauritiana (Borgesen) R.Nielsen, C.J.O'Kelly & B.Wysor.
