The type species (lectotype) of the genus Oscillatoria is Oscillatoria princeps Vaucher ex Gomont.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Tenebriella curviceps (C.Agardh ex Gomont) Hauerová, Hauer & Kaštovský.
Type Information
Type locality: "In stagnis Scaniae" (near Lund), Sweden; (Silva & al. 1996: 41) Notes: This type locality was first described by Drouet (1968: 264, 291) (Silva et al., 1996)
