This is the type species (holotype) of the genus Dermonema.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Dermonema virens (J.Agardh) Pedroche & Ávila Ortíz.
Type locality: Sri Lanka; (Silva & al. 1996: 119)
Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), dichotomous, having divisions always in pairs (Stearn 1973).
This is a marine species.
