The type species (lectotype) of the genus Corallina is Corallina officinalis Linnaeus.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Jania rosea (Lamarck) Decaisne.

Type locality: "Nova-Hollandia" (probably Western Australia); (Silva & al. 1996: 234) Notes: This type locality was first recorded by Johansen & womersley (1986: 560)
