Lectotype locality: Orotava, Tenerife, Islas Canarias (Woelkerling & al. 2005: 159). Lectotype: Houegger; 1890; no habitat data on type. TRH A17-1174 (Woelkerling & al. 2005: 159). Notes: This type locality was first recorded by Woelkerling (1988: 35).

Adjective (Latin), having pustules (Stearn 1973).
