Type locality: Langwieser See bei Plieningen (Silva 1996-to date). Lectotype: pl. II, fig. 1 in Kirchner 1880 (designated by Komárek 1974): material of the strain SAG 9.81 cryopreserved at the SAG Culture Collection Gottingen, Germany (designated by Bock et al. 2013: 337) (epitype) (Bock et. al. 2013: 337).
