The type species (holotype) of the genus Gloiocladia is Gloiocladia furcata (C.Agardh) J.Agardh.
Status of name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Gloioderma halymenioides (Harvey) J.Agardh

Type locality: Fremantle, Western Australia (Silva & al. 1996: 363). Holotype: Harvey; Herb. Harvey, TCD Trav. Set 152 (Womersley 1996: 101).
