This is a marine species.
Type locality: Fremantle, Western Australia (Harvey 1855: 554). Lectotype: Clifton; Herb. Harvey, TCD Trav. Set 347 (Womersley 1996: 105). Notes: Lectotype designated by Womersley (1996: 105). A second specimen in TCD placed (by Harvey?) under Halymenia cliftonii.
