Taxonomic note
Kraft & Abbott (2002: 276) note that the quite detailed study of this species by Pocock (1956) confirmed its uniqueness among the Ceramiaceae (where Pocock provisionally left it in the tribe Episporieae Schmitz 1889) and red algae generally. Womersley (1998: 422) notes that some authors (e.g. G. Feldman 1947) considered it more likely to belong to an order such as the Gigartinales. - (22 October 2010) - G.M. Guiry
Habitat note
An obligate parasite of the ceramiaceous genus Centroceras (Kraft & Abbott (2002). - (22 October 2010) - G.M. Guiry
