Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Surirella is Surirella striatula Turpin.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Iconella amphioxys (W.Smith) D.Kapustin & O.Kryvosheia.
Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Greek), sharp on both sides (Griffith 2004).
