Type locality: France: Sologne; (Index Nominum Algarum) Lectotype: fig. 56 in Allorge et Lefèvre, 1925 (designated by Kosmala et al., 2007: 1078): Fig. 1, a, b, and o (epitype) Epitype in Herbarium of the Department of Plant Systematic and Geography at Warsaw Univ.; Permanently preserved material of strain ACOI 2434 (Kosmala et al. 2007: 1078) Notes: The culture from which the epitype was described has been deposited in the Algae Culture Collection of the Department of Botany, University of Coimbra, Portugal, as number ACOI 2434. Lukomska-Kowalczyk et al. (2020: 1146) note that the epitypification statement published in Kosmala et al. 2007 (p. 1078) does not include the phrase "designated here". They designate the epitype (Kosmala et al. 2007, fig. 1a) in their publication (2020: 1146). GenBank DQ397673.
